Consultant
The role of the Sports Department
of Nauru is crucial to building a healthy and sustainable
population for the future. As such, the Department is currently
looking to recruit a SPORTS CONSULTANT who will report directly to
the Secretary for Sports.
Key responsibilities:
The Sports Consultant is to develop
an overarching sports strategy for the Department of Sports that
includes:
- Vision, strategy and operations and maintenance plan for the
Nauru Multipurpose Community Centre (NMCC)
- A new and sustainable Community Sports Outreach
Program
- Will work closely with the key roles within the Department of
Sports (DoS) and Department of Foreign Affairs (DFAT)
- Undertake document review and research on theEpo'n Keramen(EK)
program and NMCC
- Engage with local sports federations, community sporting
groups and elite sports programs
- Develop a Sports Strategy for the DoS that outline the vision,
strategy and operations, and maintenance plan for the next 5-10
years with key performance indicators
- Enhance capacity DoS to manage and implement the strategy
including; on-the-job training, facilitating a twinning
relationship between DoS and an international sporting
institution
The successful candidate will be
offered a single (unaccompanied) short term contract for the
duration of 70 days. An attractive remuneration at a competitive
regional rate is offered.
The successful applicant will be
required to possess the following minimum experience, competencies
and qualifications:
Candidate must possess a minimum of
5 years' experience in sports management and strategic
development. Has worked in and has current affiliations with
recognized sporting institutes in the Pacific region as well as
Australia and New Zealand is required. The candidate must have
excellent understanding and knowledge of GESI issues. Minimum
qualification requirements include Bachelor of Sports Management,
Physical Education or equivalent.
