On Behalf of the University of the
South Pacific (USP, Nauru Campus)
Online course for teachers teaching
online. 15May to 12Jun 2020.
COL and PACFOLD are launching a short
online course to support teachers with teaching online. The course
is particularly suited for teachers in developing country contexts
and will run over 4 weeks. It is a free course, which will start on
15th May 2020 is targeted at teachers of primary and secondary
schools, but is suitable for anyone interested in learning and
teaching online. It uses appropriate learning design and accessible
technology to introduce participants to basic principles of online
learning and teaching.
With the spread of COVID-19, school
campuses have been closed. Governments in most developing and
developed countries have since then recommended moving teaching and
learning online. Even when campuses re-open, teachers and learners
will probably need to continue to practice physical distancing and
will need to continue to do some work online.
While this course is open to all, we
would like to invite teachers and officials connected with school
education in developing countries of the Pacific. It will require
up to 3 hours or work each week. Participants will learn from
readings, videos as well as discussions with fellow teachers and
mentors. A Certificate of Completion will be given to those who
complete all the tasks in the course.
