Additional 2 families and 8 single men receive positive refugee determinations
The Government of
Nauru handed down status determinations to 15 asylum seekers today
(26 June) with 13 granted refugee
status.
The 13 comprises of
five people in two families and the remaining are eight single
adult males.
One family will reside
at the Anibare lodge and the second family will reside at the new
residences in Ijuw district.
The single adult men
will reside at a separate location at
topside.
Like previous
arrangements, the two single male asylum seekers that did not
receive a positive determination will remain at the Regional
Processing Centre.
The nationalities of
today's RSD hand down are five Iranian, seven Pakistani, one
Afghani and two stateless
persons.
The refugees will move
into more permanent and more suitably located accommodation in the
second phase of their housing
arrangements.
Refugees that are
resettled into the community are free to move around the island,
seek employment and be part of the
community.
The Government of
Nauru will continue to hand down refugee status determinations in
the coming weeks.
