Another group of asylum seekers to Nauru bring total on island to 543

Another two asylum seeker groups have arrived in Nauru over the
past few days (31 August and 2 September) on board a chartered
flight of Nauru's national carrier Our Airline, from Christmas
Island.
The fourth family group that arrived on Saturday 31 August,
primarily of Iranian and Lebanese nationality consisted of seven
adult females, five adult males, and 14 children.
A group of 12 single adult males departed on the outbound flight
the same day to Australia.
The group that arrived yesterday (2 September) consisted of 43
single adult males of mixed nationalities and were taken to the
second site of the Regional Processing Centre (RPC 2).
Like previous arrivals both groups completed brief immigration
formalities before boarding mini-buses to take them to the Topside
centre.
The transfers from aircraft to Topside were without
incident.
The transfers bring the total number of asylum seekers on island
to 543.
