Aingimea, MP
Wednesday, 22 June 2022
In today's update, His Excellency
President Lionel Aingimea says the total number of active cases
recorded up to the evening of Tuesday, 21 June is 606.
So far 2,311 tests have been
carried out by the COVID testing teams up to 21 June; 815 tests
were done yesterday alone, and 218 tests returned positive
results.
There are still unrecorded cases in
the community. If you have conducted your own test, please call 192
to record your result.
Fourteen people are in the negative
pressure Acute Care Unit, including one child. Three of them are
pregnant women, two are elderly and three who are unvaccinated for
personal reasons. They are all well and the doctors have
placed them in the ACU for observation. None of them are in a
critical condition.
Our quarantine facilities have now
reached full capacity and so we have entered Phase 3 of our case
management strategy. This means that those who have tested positive
can now isolate at home if they wish, or remain in the government
quarantine facility.
All those that are isolating at
home must follow the Taskforce protocols in regards to home
isolation.
Individuals who have tested
positive and are in home isolation must isolate for 13 days. They
must be without symptoms for three days before they break
isolation.
Ensure you wear your mask when
outside your room or house. Continue hand hygiene practices, and
use soap and water if you do not have access to hand
sanitisers.
A drive-through Rapid Antigen Test
(RAT) station is set up at the Tigers oval in Aiwo. Entry is from
Aiwo bridge road and exiting out to Buada road. The Naoero Public
Health centre is also a testing station.
Please remember safe distancing is
1.5 to 2 metres.
Seventy five houses are currently
under isolation and have received boxes of water and noodles from
the government.
By Friday there will be boxes of
eggs donated by the Government of the Republic of China
(Taiwan).
