With the progressive results of the
COVID outbreak, Nauru's National COVID-19 Taskforce has advised
some changes in protocols or restrictions for this soft lockdown.
National measures will be lifted soon and rules or requirements
will be announced this week.
Please practice hand hygiene,
wearing mask, keeping you distances and keeping houses well
ventilated.
Eighty children aged five to 11
received their first dose yesterday (Mon, 11 July), taking the
total to 1,169. Fifty per cent of this group has received their
first dose.
With the current soft lockdown in
place, Public Health teams will set up vaccination stations for
this age group within districts and will conduct house to house
vaccination visits.
There are a number of children in
home isolation and have not been tested but parents and guardians
are encouraged to bring children who are able to get vaccinated
sooner rather than later.
Taskforce's advice to parents and
guardians is that if your child has contracted the virus they
should wait until September to take their first dose.
Maintain good hygiene. Always wash
your hands with soap and water, wear a mask, keep your distance,
and keep houses well ventilated.
