A total of 83 children aged 5-11
received their vaccinations on Friday 12 August and 10 received
theirs on Monday 15 August, totaling 93 children.
Of this 93 total, four children
received their first dose (90 per cent) and 89 children received
their second dose (71 per cent) and are therefore fully
vaccinated.
Children who have taken their first
dose of the Pfizer vaccine three weeks ago are now eligible to take
the second dose.
Parents and guardians are advised
that if your child has COVID, it is better to wait three months
from the time of infection to get their first dose. This will help
the body increase immunity.
Waiting three months is beneficial
in terms of building stronger immunity. However, there is no harm
if you want your child to take the shot after recovering from COVID
as long as they have no acute illness.
Do not hesitate to ask questions,
help or advice from Health professionals at the vaccination
stations.
Step 3 of the COVID step down
measures remains in place. If you are feeling unwell or showing
symptoms of fever, running nose, headache or body aches please get
tested or call 191 to arrange for a RAT test.
Continue wearing face mask in
public, hand hygiene practices and keeping your distances. Please
comply with the step 3 measures to keep our community safe.
If you are self-testing at home
please call 192 to report your result or visit the link below.
Numbers 191 and 192 are both
