Dageago updates parliament on
MOUs with China
Deputy Minister Isabella Dageago
reported to parliament in April of her participation as a member of
the Presidential delegation to the state visit to China in
March.
On behalf of the government, DM
Dageago co-signed three Memorandums of Understanding (MOU).
The MOU titled Enhancing
Cooperation and Promoting the Global Development Initiative between
China International Development Cooperation Agency and the Office
of the President aims to address the challenges of the global
community in accelerating the development and achievement of the
2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
The MOU indicates all forms of
assistance including but not limited to grants, interest-free
loans, concessional loans, and the Global Development and
South-South Cooperation Fund.
Minister Dageago says Nauru and
China will also explore development cooperation projects that are
aligned with Nauru's National Sustainable Development Strategy.
The second and third MOUs the
minister signed are media cooperation agreements with Chinese state
media China Media Group (CMG) and Xinhua News Agency, aim to
strengthen media exchange and cooperation including news production
and broadcast, news exchange, training, seminars, and technical
expert assistance.
DM Dageago was thankful for her
inclusion to be part of the presidential delegation to China, "to
witness the remarkable welcome ceremony, to participate in
meaningful bilateral meetings, and experience the cultural exchange
from the various provinces of China".
