DM Eoe reports on his
participation on China state visit
Deputy Minister Maverick Eoe
delivered his statement on his participation on the Presidential
State visit to China in March where he co-signed two Memorandums of
Understanding on behalf of the government.
DM Eoe signed the cooperation
agreement titled Ministry of Commerce of China and DFAT Nauru on
strengthening cooperation under the initiative on international
trade and economic cooperation framework on Digital Economy and
Green Development.
The second MOU, Cooperation within
the Framework of the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 1st
Century Maritime Silk Road.
The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI)
was adopted by the Chinese government in 2013 as its foreign and
economic policy focusing on an ambitious infrastructure program
that connects China to Asia, Africa, and Eastern Europe.
The Silk Road Economic Belt
component relates to land locked transportation in Central Asia,
while the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road component
focuses on Indo-Pacific sea routes through South-East Asia to South
Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.
The initiative's areas of
cooperation include policy, infrastructure, trade, financial, and
people-to-people connectivity.
DM Eoe expressed his profound
appreciation to His Excellency the President for the privilege of
being part of the momentous occasion.
"The cordial reception extended to
us reflects the robust bonds that exist between our countries, and
the cultural exchanges we engaged in across the various Chinese
provinces were immensely enlightening."
