Local RPC security staff undergo refresher course

Security officers from the Regional Processing Centre (RPC) underwent a comprehensive refresher course facilitated by the Department of Multicultural Affairs, 24-25 April.

Sunrise Enterprise Security Services' local field trainer Cliveson Degia said the course featured modules on legislation, cultural awareness, mental health, use of force and first aid, which is necessary to ensure that security guards at the RPC adhere to required work standards.

His Excellency President David Adeang also briefly visited the first session to observe the progress and offered words of encouragement to the participants.

The course included presentations on the various modules they covered with participants having the opportunity to raise questions and make contributions.

Feedback from the participants indicated that the refresher course was a success, not just in terms of reinforcing standard procedures and practises but also by bringing new personnel up to speed, ensuring ethical and professional standards are maintained.

Held at the Civic Centre, the course was conducted entirely in the Nauruan language to ensure clear communication and full engagement from all participants. //
