President Adeang receives Cuban
ambassador Montano
His Excellency President David
Adeang received the letter of credence of His Excellency José
Montano, accrediting him as Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to
the Republic of Nauru, 12 April.
After his arrival to the government
office, Ambassador Montano inspected the Nauru Police Force Guard
of Honour, then was escorted to the Office of the President for the
presentation of credentials.
President Adeang warmly welcomed
the Ambassador on behalf of the people and the government of Nauru,
and elaborated on the importance of both nations further
strengthening diplomatic relations.
President Adeang said that Nauru
and Cuba "can work together to address the challenges facing our
world today, and promote sustainable development" and is "keen to
continue our cooperation in the health sector" noting Cuba's
ongoing support in terms of medical healthcare and education.
"This collaboration can
significantly enhance the health sector in Nauru, providing better
health care services to our population and building capacity within
our own healthcare system," President Adeang said.
Ambassador Montano first presented
his credentials in 2015.
Nauru and Cuba established
diplomatic relations on 7 May 2002.
