RPC update
RPC update
At the time of the sitting of the
Nauru Parliament, President and Minister for Multicultural Affairs
(DMA) David Adeang said there were 54 transferees currently on
Nauru with 15 residing in the community and the remaining 39 at RPC
camp 1. The RPC is managed by DMA.
The 39 at RPC1 underwent health
screening before their transition into community housing.
Nauru Government officials continue
to discuss with Australia's Department of Home Affairs in managing
the increased number of transferees in Nauru.
DMA is also running the Alternative
Pathways program which provides Nauruans opportunities for further
education, training and job placements for Nauruans previously
involved with the RPC operations and other areas.
The first graduation of the program
in July 2023 had 101 graduates and the most recent one in March
2024 saw 710 individuals complete the training and awarded
certificates of attainment.
