Nauru and Monaco establish diplomatic relations
The Republic of Nauru and the
Principality of Monaco have established diplomatic relations today
at the signing of a joint communique at the Nauru Mission in New
York.
Nauru's Ambassador and Permanent
Representative to the United Nations, Margo Deiye signed the joint
communique with her counterpart, Ambassador Isabelle Picco.
Nauru and Monaco have a shared
interest in the space of international cooperation and ocean
governance.
As small island states they rely on
effective international cooperation and legal frameworks to address
ocean issues that cross national boundaries.
Nauru and Monaco are advocates for
the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) and
participate in regional and global forums on ocean governance.
