Professional Standards Unit (PSU)
The Professional Standards Unit represents the interests of the
public by investigating and addressing complaints of misconduct by
Police Officers. Its roles and functions are subject to the Nauru
Police Force Act 1972 and Standing Orders.
The Unit fulfills Nauru Police Force Strategic Plan for
2020-2023 Pillar 3: Community Policing, to deliver "effective,
ethical and accountable policing" and "building community
interaction and partnership".
PSU Officers assure the public that all complaints are treated
in-confidence and as a priority.
Written feedback is provided to complainants to complete the
cycle of accountability. All complaints are brought to the
attention of the Commissioner of Police.
